Phân tích đề bài
Dạng bài: Discussion
Keywords cần lưu ý: directors – large organisations – ordinary workers – much higher salaries – necessary – unfair
Directors of big enterprises are often paid much more than normal workers. While some people believe this to be unfair, I think it is reasonable because of the directors’ impacts and responsibilities in an organisation.
Those who support the “unfair argument” may base their views on the difference in working hours. In many companies, ordinary workers often spend eight to ten hours a day at work, and the number can be higher if they are required to work overtime. In contrast, it is not difficult to catch sight of company directors who have plenty of time to appear in the media or leave the workplace earlier than their staff. This makes many people think that directors are working less than their employees, and it is unfair for them to receive much higher pay.
However, the view above is deeply flawed. This is because one’s salary is often determined by their responsibilities and impacts on the organisation, not just their working hours, and directors clearly bear much more responsibility than ordinary staff. For example, a CEO’s job involves supervising all the departments and giving directions to the whole company. Their decisions can make their companies win or fail, while an employee’s work often has far less significant impacts. In addition, when problems or crises occur, the directors are often the first and final ones to take responsibility for driving the organisation through difficult times. Therefore, they deserve a much higher salary than the other members of a company for the weighty responsibility they shoulder.
In conclusion, the responsibility of directors is far heavier and more significant than that of normal staff members. Hence, they deserve higher salaries than ordinary employees, even though some may think this is unfair.
