1. On what occasions do people usually need to wait?
It happens whenever we need to use a service, I think. People usually have to wait in lines, like at the grocery store or amusement parks, because there are lots of other folks trying to do the same thing. Also, waiting happens when people are expecting something, like waiting for a package to arrive or for someone to call you back. Basically, waiting is part of our daily routine and also part of life.
2. What do people do while waiting?
While waiting, people often check their phones, scroll through social media, or play games to pass the time. Others might strike up a conversation with someone nearby or people-watch to stay entertained. Basically, these are some ways to distract themselves, making the wait feel shorter and less boring
- pass the time (verb phrase): giết thời gian
- strike up conversation (verb phrase): bắt đầu cuộc hội thoại
- people-watch (noun): ngắm nhìn người xung quanh
3. Do you think nowadays it is harder for people to wait?
Yes, to some extent I think it’s true. It’s tougher for people to wait since people have become accustomed to getting things quickly or multitasking, thanks to technology. For example, it’s very convenient now for people to use messaging apps to chat with their friends and family, so people often expect others to respond promptly and it can get uncomfortable for them to wait so long for responses. With everything happening so quickly, waiting around feels like a drag.

- feels like a drag (phrase): một việc gì đó mang đến cảm giác bứt rứt, khó chịu
