It is believed that some of the best ways to combat illnesses and outbreaks of diseases are mitigating environmental pollution and housing problems. I completely agree with this point of view.
Addressing housing problems probably will go a long way towards fending off illnesses and plagues. Substantial scientific evidence has shown that different aspects of accommodation can have profound effects on both physical and mental health outcomes. In recent years, lack of affordable housing worldwide is becoming a global crisis, which forces a large number of people, especially those among ethnic minority populations or low-income communities, to live in poor housing conditions. Dilapidated housing might cause diseases spread by insects, health problems such as asthma or trigger mental health issues such as violence or social isolation. Therefore, the government needs to provide sanitary places to prevent such illnesses and diseases.
In addition, taking measures to alleviate environmental problems is necessary if those in authority want to fight illness and disease. Environmental pollutants can cause health problems like respiratory and heart disease, or some types of cancer. People in many places now have to consume unsafe drinking water due to poor sanitary levels, which causes them to frequently suffer from water-borne diseases like diarrhea or dysentary. Aside from causing illnesses, unsanitary water and air are also transmissions of diseases.
If efforts are made to improve air and water quality, many people would be saved from unnecessary diseases. In conclusion, since environmental pollution and housing issues are closely linked to health problems and outbreaks of diseases, governments should focus on tackling them.
