Bài mẫu

The significance of music in society is a matter of differing opinions. Some view it as a crucial element, while others perceive it merely as a form of amusement.  Personally, I align with the former viewpoint.

On one hand, music is commonly perceived merely as a vehicle for entertainment due to several factors. To start with, the mainstream music industry tends to prioritize music as a commodity geared towards amusement, placing emphasis on catchy melodies and popular trends. This emphasis on commercial success and broad appeal can overshadow the deeper artistic and emotional aspects of music. Additionally, music frequently serves the role of setting the atmosphere at social gatherings, particularly during parties and celebrations. For example, at weddings, cheerful and upbeat songs are often performed to create a joyful atmosphere among attendees, serving as background noise while guests engage in conversations or partake in meals. This customary practice has ingrained the notion that music primarily exists to offer pleasure and amusement.

On the other hand, I believe music holds significant value within society. On an individual level, music helps people connect with their heritage. Traditional music, folk songs, and cultural musical practices pass down stories and historical values from one generation to the next. By engaging with their cultural music, individuals can strengthen their connection to their roots and gain a deeper appreciation for their heritage. On a broader scale, music serves as a powerful tool for social commentary, raising awareness about various matters such as inequality, environmental concerns, and political issues. A notable example is John Lennon’s “Imagine,” which showcases the artist’s commentary on how social and political issues like wars and materialism divide humanity, urging unity and compassion to transcend such divisions. 

In conclusion, while some may perceive music solely as a form of amusement, I firmly believe that music’s role in society extends far beyond entertainment thanks to its ability to connect individuals to their heritage and serve as an influential platform for social commentary.
